Response: The Secret Lives of Color

It’s interesting to gain insights into the cultural significance of colors from a historical perspective. Red, a staple in human attire, has stood the test of time. Purple, with its rare and difficult production until the 1800s, naturally became emblematic of power and royalty. Although green was easy to produce, its poisonous nature adds a layer of intrigue. Blue was historically synonymous with women due to its association with the Virgin Mary, while pink was seen as a masculine hue. This highlights the ever-evolving nature of colors in culture, reminding us that their interpretations are fluid and bound to shift over time.

In the brief epoch of time I find myself in, the symbolism of colors appears to be set and predetermined. Yet, it's fascinating to observe how the interpretations of colors fluidly transform in response to shifts in supply and cultural evolution.
