Context - We are the team for neural harmony, an installation introducing how brain waves interact with each other in a hieratical manner. We had an initial interview with current new media founders at the end of December, and the key issue that needs to be addressed is how to ship the installation in a modular, cheaper manner from New York to Santa Fe. Here is the current solution and the timeline for it.
We decide to re-fabricate the old version into a modular, easier to shipped version. Currently, we are working closely with a wood manufactory studio on two potential solutions. The parts and structure will remain the same but we are exploring different assembly methods:
Solution #1
We will ship the boards flat then resemble them in Santa Fe using simple screw drivers, basically like an IKEA shelf.
Here is the CAD design file:
Solution #2
We are collaborating closely with a wood fabrication studio in China to develop a solution that eliminates the need for screws, making the assembly process easier to detach and reassemble. This method will involve the use of mortise and tenon joints as well as sliding dovetail techniques.
Please refer to the attached example images for an illustration of the methods we plan to use.
