I made a display platform for a chair model. This platform ideally can be used to display other models in the future.
I used calipers to measure the thickness of both the acrylic and wood boards. Based on these measurements, I designed the groove shape in Adobe Illustrator so that pieces can be fastened pretty tightly just by splicing.
acrylic board: 2.03mm (makerspace one is 2.15mm) plywood board: 3.21 mm
I haven’t figure out a way to fasten the wood veneer and the acrylic board without destroying the perfect surface look So I’m just using tapes for now. and I haven’t figure out how to fasten the acrylic board with the bottom light box as well.

I want to use paper and wood to create a light box that project a shape at first but cutting the paper with laser cutter and place it in the front of the light is not working as intended. Then I tried to print the image on a piece of plastic but the UV printer on floor is broken. So I gave up at this idea.
Then I tried to use wood veneer to make some curvy shaped chandelier but it’s very tricky to bend the wood veneer to the right amount that it won’t break. But good to know they let light through.
Then I decide to focus on playing with the contract of materials and made something at least I like.
When I make the chair, I tried bending acrylic, but my piece is too tiny I ended up breaking one and melting the other.
